The chapel of the church designed by Tadao Ando
The church in Hiroo destined by Tadao Ando has a unique isosceles triangular shape. The chapel takes up the are that includes the apex.
The cross is right next to the apex of the triangular shape.
At the apex is a slit through which the sunlight comes in.
Very fine cross is hanging in the air toward the apex.
The entire chapel looks like a ship. The apex and the cross are almost like a bow of a ship. The walls are covered with wood, which is uncommon for Ando’s projects. They are Western hemlock-spruce slab with a unique finish.
The wooden doors lead to the chapel.
