It’s most likely that you will fly in using Narita or Haneda airport. Aichi is about 260 km west of Tokyo, so will you have to allow at least ½ day to get to the park. It will probably be a better idea to stay overnight in Tokyo, and the go to Nagoya from Tokyo. There are at least three options to go to Nagoya from Tokyo: Shinkansen (bullet train), intercity bus, or rent-a-car to get to Nagoya. Once you are in Nagoya, you can take local trains to get to the park.

You can hop on Shinkansen from Tokyo, Shinagawa, or Yokohama station. It takes less than 2 hours at a little bit over $100 to get to Nagoya. (Nozomi is faster than Hikari or Kodama)

If you are on a budget, intercity bus service is the way to go. It could take about 6 hours (many services are during night time), but the price can be about $30~$60.

The cost of renting a car can probably be less than $100 per day, but you have to pay tolls (about $80) and gas. Gas is far more expensive in Japan than in the US, although people usually drive smaller, fuel-efficient cars. It’s more likely that you are offered one of fuel-efficient cars. If non-stop, you will get to Nagoya from Tokyo in about 5-6 hours. You may want to avoid busy hours because you can be stuck in traffic, as Tokyo to Nagona include a lot of urban areas.

Once you are in Nagoya, you will have to take subway and then transfer to “linear motor car” to get to the Aichi Expo Memorial Park.

  1. Take Higashiyama Line from Nagoya to Fujigaoka station.
  2. Take “Linimo” Line from Fujigaoka to Ai Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen (Aichi Expo Memorial Park).
