Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA is a small yet engaging museum about Charles Schulz and the Peanuts gang. It’s dedicated to exhibit Schulz’s original Charlie Brown works – big and small – and his life and philosophy about drawing cartoons.  There was a lot of Zen – not in a religious way obviously – but in the way Schulz let such an abundant world emerge using very simple (and minimal) lines.  Those simple lines and words have never become stale, even after so many decades.

Is it the expressive deceptively simple line?

The purity in his line in word drives a story in the most efficient way possible for our medium.  Jim Davis, Garfield

This is what it’s all about – to get feelings of depth and roundness, and the pen line is the best pen line you can make.  That’s what it’s all about.  Charles M. Schulz
